Please verify that the contractor is properly licensed to perform the requested service for you. Don’t be afraid to ask the contractor to show you their license or provide you with their license number. Also ask if they have liability insurance, and if so how much is the coverage, can they provide you with documentation to prove this? Any valid licensed and insured contractor will typically have this documentation readily available. Ask the contractor for references. Any legitimate contractor will be glad to give you references. After all, they should be proud of their customer base and work history. By performing the steps indicated, you will greatly reduce your risk of hiring an untrustworthy contractor that provides poor quality service.

Question: How can I verify that the contractor is holding the proper license?
